G. Bizet, R. Ščedrin, D. Dinková: Carmen
(Musical - dramatic and dance performance)

Direction and choreography: Dana Dinková (Die lustige Witwe, Gypsy roots, The White Hell, The Ark of Templars, The Ant Ferdo)

The famous title Carmen has a brand new form – the connection of G. Bizet and R. Ščedrin´s music with dance, singing and spoken word besides keeping the basic theme.
The intention of the performance is mirroring nowadays society. The story talks about Carmen, José, Toreador and Micaëla. Their destinies and life situations are dominated by the character of Prophetess –The Death. She speaks with them and requires thinking about their lives. Carmen is a story about the desperate seeking of love by a woman who proclaims liberty. To love and to be loved was the sign of the liberty for her. How do modern women understand the freedom- to win through, to be successful or to be loved? How is it? Where does the ambivalence lead them? Are they able to find a harmony inside them? How do they fight with the typical women´s doubts – do they find a harmony in the family life or in the job? Is it possible to join these two things? We will look for the answers in our piece Carmen.
